Glossary of 100 Club Terms
- Activity:
- A work task selected for recognition, such as "attendance". It must be measurable, preferably from an objective standpoint.
- 100 Club Administrator:
- The person, who performs the recordkeeping function, attends all committee meetings and is responsible for keeping management and employees up-to-date on changes in everything related to the 100 Club.
- Bonus points:
- Points which are issued to employees whose work record shows continuous effort over an extended period of time. (For example, 9 months of perfect attendance may result in bonus points.)
- CEO:
- The top ranking administrator within an organization, such as Chief Executive Officer, President, Plant Manager, General Manager, Hospital Administrator, Mayor, City Manager, Principal, School Superintendent, etc.
- Department Subcommittee:
- A group of employees acting as a line of communication between the department’s employees and the Oversight Committee. Preferably, each subcommittee is limited to five (5) members. One (1) member is chosen to serve on the Oversight Committee for three (3) consecutive months.
- Design Committee:
- Management will decide in advance whether to include only management representatives in the design session or to expand the group to include non-management employees, too. If non-management employees are included, then the design committee should consist of an equal number of representatives of management and the employees. This committee is responsible for tailoring the 100 Club to meet the objectives of the organization.
- Facilitator:
- The management person assigned to gather and make a record of all of the information generated in the design sessions. Also, responsible for keeping the Design Committee members focused on the mission at hand.
- Frequency:
- That point in time (day, week, month, quarter, year, etc.) when points will be given.
- Highly rated activities:
- As activities for which employees will receive points (recognition) are identified, they are ranked according to which will generate the highest to lowest number of points. By design, individual activities are more highly rated.
- Oversight Committee:
- Consists of an equal number of management representatives and employee representatives and is responsible for answering questions and resolving disputes in connection with all aspects of the 100 Club. It must meet on a monthly basis.
- Point formula:
- Given its historical results, there are between 140 and 160 total points – in a wide variety of measurable activities – available for employees to earn during a 9-month period. This formula must be adhered to for the 100 Club to be successful.
- Point formula chart:
- During the design session, the facilitator gathers information from committee members and records this data using the following headings: Activity, Frequency, Number of Points, Bonus Points, Total Points.
- Report card:
- A line by line breakdown of points earned by employees for each activity. This report, personally signed by a key management representative, is sent to each employee’s home.
- 10-week timetable:
- Once the design of the 100 Club is completed, it takes 10 weeks for the 100 Club to get underway. During this time frame, there is a week-by-week list of assignments used to introduce the 100 Club to all employees throughout the organization.
